Photograph by SC8PE Studio. For me, Gran’s Hut at Rye Harbour is one of those places. Its black walls, white door and windows and bright red roof stand out against the shingle and open sky. This is the story behind my Gran’s Hut artwork. Standing by 1929 The hut’s exact construction date and original purpose remain uncertain. The earliest verified image I have found is a Britain from Above aerial photograph taken on 25 April 1929 . The hut is visible in the aerial, confirming that it was standing by that date. No earlier date is currently verified. The Honeysett family and “Gran’s Hut” By the 1930s, the Honeysett family knew it as Gran’s Hut.
